If those walls could talk
They wouldn’t sing but weep
Of days gone by
Of a secret kept
A girl who mourns
While a mother slept
Wept herself
Of the terrors deep
Within the closet
of her own skeletons

Childhood hunger
Never fed
Her sunken hope
In a sea of pain
If those walls could talk
Rage runs deep in them
Hope deferred
Sick hearts
Sick minds
Sick with shame
With words unspoken
Chains on tongues
Captive hearts

Speak walls speak
Of children’s woes
Of torment deep
From their captor’s throes
A man of sorrows
A man of dreams
Who won’t keep silent

Instead they scream
His own life broken
                                                               From childhood lost
Broken child
Just like me
Just like us

If those walls told the story
What a tale it would be
They speak now

Through me

  1. WOW! Crisie, I don’t even know what to say on this one. It is breathtaking and hits home with so many people. And I love the resolve at the end that the walls speak through me. The whole thing is a beautiful emotional journey with a sound-mind resolve. That doesn’t leave you feeling hopeless but rather empowered. It acknowledges the pain, but shows you the way out. I love love love it. You ever read something or hear a song and say “man, I would love to write something so good”? This is that something to me. Amazing job Crisie.

    • Wow Jennifer thank you so much for your encouragement and validation. I cannot take the credit for this however because the Lord is the one who introduced me to these words. I woke up at 4:30 in the morning and these words were pouring out of my heart. It’s like a bomb for me. And I’m so thankful that it’s healing for others. And I feel like the Lord said this is how I could tell my story and honor those in it at the same time. It’s amazing to me his wisdom. I love you girl
