The darkness of anger
It’s what I feared
Feared that if it spoke
Would rage
Would resent
Would never stop

The silenced ones
They disappear
Into the dark
Familiar, horrible comfort
Of hiding

Righteous indignation
For the dishonor
Of hearts
Of love
Without respect
Such deep dishonor

Ignorance
Pain
The culprits
There’s none to blame
Only shame
Only pain
Only deep despair

Feelings
That won’t keep quiet
Bribe them
Shame them
Berate them

Cry out for honor
Permit them
Or they will rage
Give them dignity
Lest those who hold them
Come to ruin

And once they do
There’s no returning
To what was
Ever
